Skoda has recently unveiled its latest model, the Elroq, which is packed with innovative features that aim to make ownership more convenient. One standout feature is the tire wear gauge that also functions as an ice scraper. While this feature is not entirely new for Skoda, as some older models already have it, the Elroq has moved it to a more accessible location within the tailgate.
In addition to the tire wear gauge, the Elroq boasts a range of “Simply Clever” items that enhance the overall user experience. These include an umbrella in the driver’s door, a warning triangle in the tailgate, a net under the parcel shelf for storing charging cables, and folding hooks in the cargo area. Despite being a fully electric vehicle, the Elroq still maintains some traditional elements such as physical buttons for easy control.
The interior of the Elroq is designed with practicality in mind, featuring a large trunk with ample storage space. With the rear seats up, the Elroq offers 16.6 cubic feet of cargo space, which can be expanded to 55.8 cubic feet by folding the rear bench. The vehicle also includes various compartments for additional storage.
The Elroq is a compact electric crossover positioned below the Kodiaq in Skoda’s lineup. It is available in both rear- and all-wheel-drive configurations, with different motor options based on the model. The top-of-the-line Elroq 85x comes with an additional electric motor at the front axle, enabling all-wheel drive.
In terms of performance, the Elroq offers a range of battery sizes and charging capabilities. The largest battery is reserved for the Elroq 85 and 85x models, which support fast charging at up to 175 kW. The rear-wheel-drive Elroq 85 boasts an impressive range of over 348 miles on a single charge in the WLTP cycle.
Despite its compact size, the Elroq offers a spacious interior and a range of features that make it a practical and versatile electric vehicle. Skoda has priced the Elroq starting at €33,900 ($37,600), making it a competitive option in the market. While the Elroq may not be available in the US, consumers can look forward to electric crossovers from SEAT’s spin-off brand, Cupra, in the coming years.
